HyperX Cloud III Warzone EQ Settings (Tuned Preset)
A generic Warzone EQ was not built for your ears. The HyperX Cloud III has its own built-in sound, so the same preset lands differently on it than on other headsets. This guide uses the Cloud III tuned Warzone preset in DoveSonicEQ: the proven Warzone mix, corrected for the Cloud III, with no double-EQ stacking from vendor software.
1) Turn off the second EQ first (Ngenuity)
The most common reason a tuned preset sounds wrong is two EQs running at once. If HyperX Ngenuity is applying its own EQ curve on top of DoveSonicEQ, the tuned correction gets buried under extra bass or treble and footsteps smear.
- Set the Ngenuity equalizer flat or off for the device you play on.
- Use plain stereo output. No extra spatial processing on top of the game mix.
- One EQ in the chain: DoveSonicEQ does the tuning from here. Everything else stays neutral.
This rule applies to every brand: SteelSeries Sonar, Logitech G Hub, Razer Synapse, Dolby. If vendor software is shaping sound, set it flat or off before judging any preset.
2) Load the Cloud III tuned Warzone preset
In DoveSonicEQ, open Headphone-Tuned Game EQs, pick HyperX Cloud III on the left, and choose the Warzone mix on the right. Two tuned versions exist:
- V1: stronger footstep presence with a fuller, bassier sound. Pick this if steps feel thin or distant.
- V2: less bassy, more focus on clarity and positioning. Pick this if explosions still crowd the mix.
- Untuned default: the plain factory Warzone mix. Useful as a reference, but the tuned version is the point of this guide.
Flip between the tuned preset and Bypass (untouched sound) right away. You should hear explosions lean out while movement detail steps forward. If V1 feels heavy, try V2 before touching anything else.
3) Lift steps with Loudness Equalization
EQ reshapes frequencies; Loudness Equalization reshapes levels so quiet steps survive loud action. Set Improved near 48-50% with Peak Control on, then add Volume Lock only if spikes still bother you. Order: lift, Peak Control, Volume Lock. Full walkthrough: how to hear footsteps in any game.
4) Tame your own shots, save, done
- If your own gunfire buries steps, switch on Lower Own Gunfire (V3, strength near 50%) and test in the firing range. Guide: lower your own gunfire volume.
- Bypass compare the finished setup against untouched sound.
- Save it as one preset: EQ, Cloud III match, gunfire control, and Loudness Equalization travel together. Swap instantly next launch.
Only have sliders? Convert the preset
If you ever need the tuning inside fixed sliders instead of DoveSonicEQ, download the preset text from EQ Presets, paste it into the EQ converter, and get 10-band slider values. Fixed sliders are approximate, but they beat guessing.

Should I use V1 or V2 on the Cloud III?
Start with V1 for maximum footstep presence. Switch to V2 if the mix feels too full or explosions crowd steps out. There is no wrong answer: Bypass-compare both and keep the winner.
Do I need Ngenuity running at all?
Only for firmware or device settings. Its EQ must stay flat or off while DoveSonicEQ tunes, or you get two EQs stacked and the tuned preset cannot do its job.
Will this work for Warzone on the Cloud III Wireless too?
The Wireless and Wireless S have their own tuned entries because wireless models measure differently. Search your exact model and use its own version, not the wired one.
Steps are louder but direction feels vague. Now what?
Lower Improved Loudness a few points until direction returns. Direction lives in dynamics, so over-leveling is the usual cause.
